Recently, GRF collaborated with Australian artist Sam McWilliams to create a tee that fits into the Australian Summer... She nailed it with the Killing Time Tee, now available only via our online store. Have a read below to get to know the artist behind the brand...
Tell us a bit about yourself and where you live:
I lived in the outback at lightning ridge for my whole childhood and then just before high school I moved to the Clarence valley with my family.
Last year I moved to iluka with my partner which is a small town full of beaches and outdoor activities, I also started studying nursing around the same time as moving here.
Iluka is definitely an ideal town for me as it is so quiet and not much goes on, after spending my days studying and working I need time to wind down.
One song that gets you inspired to create:
Anything by Angus and Julia stone or Ziggy alberts put me in a good headspace while I’m drawing.
We have had an amazing response to your design you created for GRF, do you love creating art that people are now wearing around Australia:
Yes! It’s crazy i didn’t think I’d ever have the opportunity to have my artwork on clothing that people would buy, so it’s a great feeling.
In your design, there is a few surf boards at a camp site... Do you love to go out camping and surfing:
Yes for sure, I live less then 5 minutes from the beach, so most of my free time and weekends I’m out at the beach or camping with my partner so I thought it would be more personal to incorporate a few things that represents myself.
What is your favourite thing about drawing:
I love being creative and how the finished product makes me feel a sense of accomplishment. It’s also a great distraction from anything consuming my thoughts!
If you could fly over seas, where would you love to go:
There are so many places I would love to go but I think my next overseas trip would be Travelling abit of Indonesia.
What's your plan for the remainder of the year:
Well, I finish my nursing class for the year in early December so after that I have a lot more freedom to get out and have some fun, I’m going to do abit of camping over Christmas then off to the Whitsundays on a sailing trip early next year, so keen for that!
